"Are you going to any fiber fests this autumn? If so which ones and why?"

I've already gone to my favorite wool festival. The Wool Gathering in Yellow Springs, OH. This year I bought all fiber and a few knitting knick knacks(for my secret pals). I got 4oz of undyed merino roving, 1oz of dyed in the locks wool, 4oz of super soft gray/brown merino roving, a handmade dark wood wraps per inch tool, and 16oz of a steel blue merino roving. I'm in fiber heaven now I just need to make some time to spin. I may also go to an Alpaca Festival that is taking place in a couple of weeks. I love getting alpaca samples from these festivals.

"If I won the lottery what would I do?"

After I have taken care of my family and quit my job, I would buy an alpaca farm and a yarn shop. Then I would devote myself to spinning and knitting for the rest of my life.

Back from the Muggle World

Hello I'm back. I have a really interesting time in the muggle world. New Orleans was very hot and muggy. The air there just sat on you. The muggles covention was very interesting and it kept me hopping everyday. Then we flew by plane instead of broom to San Jose, CA. It was hot there but it is a dry heat. We drove up the coast to Monterey and boy was it pretty. I saw seals in there natural habitat and I was glad not to see any sharks. From what people tell me they love seals. Glad that they were absent. Well I've got to go and see what my cabin mates have been up to.

Muggle World Here I come

Right now I'm going though my WIP's and trying to figure out what projects that I'm taking with me on my two week trip. New Orleans is first on the list and I don't expect to have a lot of knitting time. In San Francisco I 'll have plenty of knitting time. At all day volleyball tournaments I get hours of uninterrupted time. Some I'm going to take one of my shawls, two of my sweaters and some socks. Of course I hope to get a chance to check out a couple of the local yarns shops. I can't wait.

In Muggle News

In two weeks I'll be casting off my robes for some Muggle clothes and heading to New Orleans and then San Francisco. I'm so excited that I can hardly contain myself. While I'm in the muggle world I'll collect some muggles things to bring back to camp and share with my roommates! I'll even take plenty of muggle pictures although they will be boring and won't move around like ours I still believe that we'll enjoy looking at them.

ASTRONOMY

Betelgeuse(Alpha Orionis)- is also known as the red supergiant. This star is so big that it's diameter can be easily measured but it is the surface area that is tricky to measure. This star is surrounded by a huge pattern of nested dust and gas shells which are a direct result of aeons mass loss. It is around 1o million years old. This star can be found on the right shoulder of my favorite constellation Orion the hunter. He was a friend of Athena, who was killed by her by accident when her brother turned him into a boar. She placed him in the stars so that she could always see him.

Summer Games Part 2

When in doubt go to the library. - Hermoine Granger.

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Good Luck and Have Fun!!
Let the anagram solving begin!
In the second volume of the HP books by JK Rowling, The (#1)Chamber of Secrets, we continue to learn the incredible adventures of Hogwarts student (#2) Harry Potter and his friends (#3) Ron Weasley and (#4) Hermoine Granger. Belonging to the house of (#5) Griffindor, they attend Defense Against the (#6) Dark Arts taught by Wizarding celebrity (#7) Gilderoy Lockhart, a none-too-bright fellow who cannot even handle pixies!
In The (#8) Chamber of Secrets, we also meet Dobby a (#9)House Elf for the first time. Determined Dobby seeks to sabotage the return of (#10) Harry Potterto Hogwarts and is pretty persistent but is unsuccessful. After a few weeks at school, the deceased Ravenclaw student who haunts the girls lavatory, also known as (#11) Moaning Mytle, shows (#12) Harry Potter and (#13) Ron Weasley an old empty diary that dropped through her ghostly form out of thin air!
Many nifty things continue to happen for the next several months… we won’t go into all the juicy details right now… however, the ending is prime reading indeed!! (#14) Harry Potter finally kills Tom Riddle’s (a.k.a #15 Voldemort) sneaky diary (which we now know is a #16 Horcrux) and saves the sister of (#17) Ron Weasley, (#18) Ginny Weasley!!!
Oh! Of course, we must mention that the thickheaded (#19) Gilderoy Lockhart unintentionally erased his own memory, so he won’t be back for book three, The (#20) Prisoner of Azkaban

Whew! What a week!

I'm glad that this week is coming to an end. Earlier this week I got a package from my Death By Socks assassin. They are the prettiest lavender socks(pictured below). There is just one problem though. They don't fit me at all.
I have decided that I'm going to take them apart and reknit them in the same pattern of course. I also finished my purse(pictured below) for the Great Purse Swap. I'm going to make one for myself soon. I can't say next because I already have two purses on the needles and both of them will be felted.

Misty Is Preparing For Take Off

I'm fighting with the lining of my bag and will have to make some adjustments when I get home tonight. Sewing the muggle way just is absolutely no fun. I refuse to let it defeat me! I went in the aviary to see my owl Misty and bring her a treat. She is so ready for her trip to see Victoria Pettigrew. I stayed a little while with her before making my way back in to the house. Tomorrow is the big day.

Spring Fever!!!!!!!!

It is so pretty with the sun glinting off of Hogwarts. I'm sitting under a big tree trying to understand my homework from potions which is easily my worst class. I absolutely refuse to let it defeat me though and that's why I'm spending such a pretty spring day with my books instead of my dreamy boyfriend. He's at quidditch pratice right now but he would have skipped it to spend a few moments with me.

Easter Almost Here

I've never been so happy or anticipated the end of Lent so much. I gave up all bad snacks for Lent and let me tell you that I've been suffering. The first two weeks everytime I made a sandwich I thought about how good some chips would be with my sandwich of course it didn't help that there was a huge bag of chips on the kitchen table. I was okay for the next couple of weeks and then cakes and cookies started calling my name. This last week has been rough but I only have two days to go. Whoo hoo!
